More Traffic From Google

Once your website is beginning to rank well in Google, you want to increase the number of people that click on your website. How do you do this? There are two very simple bits of information that should be optimized and embedded in your website code that can help you get more clicks from Google users.

meta

1. Your website’s title tag.

(If you look in the HTML of your website, this will be near the top and will be between the <title></title> tags. This is VERY important because this is what Google will show in blue (as shown above). This is the text that people will see and need to click on in order to get to your website from Google. It’s important to make your title tag very compelling and clickable. It should include the keywords you wish to rank with and should be readable by a human (not just Google). If you need more traffic from Google, this could be the most important bit of code on your whole website. Keep your titles around 65 characters or so for best results.

2. Your website’s meta description.

(Again, in your HTML code, this bit of data will be here: <META NAME=”Description” CONTENT=”Your descriptive sentence or two goes here.”>) This text should also include keywords and should be more information that would compel a person to click your link and visit your website. Keep your meta description under or around 160 characters for best results.

While these two elements alone will not necessarily help your rank HIGHER, they will increase your clickability when optimized. Keep this in mind and check your website to make sure that each page has it’s own unique title tag and meta description based on the content that is on that particular page.
